Read the following two versions of this famous excerpt from the Declaration of Independence: 

We hold as self-evident these truths: that all men ... are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are among these. 

We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men ... are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
